How the SEO Traffic Value Calculator Works

Organic traffic does not show up as a line on your ad invoice, which makes it easy to undervalue. A simple way to measure it is to ask what the same visitors would cost if you had to buy them, and how much revenue and profit they produce once they arrive.

Enter your monthly organic visitors, the conversion rate of that traffic, your average order value and gross margin, and an equivalent cost per click taken from your paid campaigns. The tool shows the orders, revenue, and gross profit your organic traffic generates, and its monthly and annual value as avoided ad spend. It also shows what the return would look like if you had to pay for those clicks.

Key Formulas Behind This Tool

  • Organic Orders: Monthly Organic Visitors x Conversion Rate %
  • Organic Revenue: Organic Orders x Average Order Value
  • Gross Profit from Organic: Organic Revenue x Gross Margin %
  • Monthly SEO Value: Monthly Organic Visitors x Equivalent CPC
  • Annual SEO Value: Monthly SEO Value x 12
  • ROAS if Traffic Were Paid: Organic Revenue / Monthly SEO Value
  • Profit if Traffic Were Paid: Gross Profit from Organic - Monthly SEO Value

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How is SEO traffic value calculated?

It multiplies your monthly organic visitors by the cost per click you would pay to buy the same visits through paid search. The result is the ad spend your organic rankings replace each month.

Which CPC should I use?

Use the average CPC you pay in Google Ads or another paid channel for similar keywords. Keyword planners and your own campaign reports are good sources. A lower CPC gives a more conservative value.

Is SEO value the same as profit?

No. SEO value is the paid-media cost avoided. Organic revenue and gross profit are shown separately so you can see the sales and margin the traffic produces. SEO itself also has costs, such as content, tools, and staff, which you should compare against this value.

Why does the tool show profit if the traffic were paid?

It subtracts the equivalent PPC spend from your organic gross profit. If the result is negative, buying the same traffic would have lost money, which means organic rankings are worth more to you than the ad cost alone suggests.

Will all organic visitors convert at the same rate as paid visitors?

Often not. Organic visitors may be earlier in their buying journey or more informational, and their conversion rate can differ from paid traffic. Use the conversion rate you actually measure for organic sessions.
