Shopify & Gateway Fee Calculator
Estimate processing fees and plan deductions to reveal your exact bank payout.
How the Shopify & Gateway Fee Calculator Works
Every online sale loses a slice to payment processing, and some of it depends on which gateway you use and which Shopify plan you are on. This calculator shows the full deduction so you know the real amount that reaches your bank account.
Enter the order value, choose your payment gateway, and pick your Shopify plan. The tool applies the gateway percentage and fixed fee, then adds the extra Shopify transaction fee that applies when you use a third-party gateway such as Stripe or PayPal. You get the total fee, the effective fee rate, and your estimated payout.
Key Formulas Behind This Tool
- Gateway Fee: (Order Value x Gateway %) + Fixed Fee
- Shopify Extra Fee (third-party gateways only): Order Value x Plan Rate (2.0% Basic, 1.0% Shopify, 0.5% Advanced)
- Total Transaction Fee: Gateway Fee + Shopify Extra Fee
- Estimated Payout: Order Value - Total Transaction Fee
- Effective Fee Rate (%): (Total Transaction Fee / Order Value) x 100
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are the standard Shopify Payments fees?
This calculator uses 2.9% + 30¢ per online transaction for Shopify Payments. Your actual rate can vary by plan, country, and card type, so check your Shopify admin for the exact rate.
What is the extra fee for using a third-party payment gateway?
When you do not use Shopify Payments, Shopify charges an additional transaction fee based on your plan. This tool uses 2.0% for Basic, 1.0% for Shopify, and 0.5% for Advanced. It does not apply this fee when Shopify Payments is selected.
Why is my effective fee rate higher than the listed percentage?
The fixed per-transaction fee (such as 30¢ or 49¢) counts for more on small orders. On a $10 order, the 30¢ fixed fee alone adds 3 percentage points to your effective rate.
Do these fees include currency conversion or chargeback fees?
No. This tool estimates standard processing and plan fees only. International cards, currency conversion, and disputes can add more cost.
